The Department of Mechanical Engineering, YMCA University of Science & Technology, Faridabad organized a National Level Conference on ‘Trends and Advances in Mechanical Engineering’ on 19th & 20th October, 2012. The broad themes of the Conference include research in the different areas of Mechanical Engineering viz. Design, Thermal, Production and Industrial. The preparation for organizing this national level conference commenced in the University about 5 months ago.

The papers were invited from the delegates by sending information brochures to different institutions in the country by post and through e-mail. The University has got very encouraging response to the conference and about 180 researchers across 15 states of India showed interest in the conference and submitted their research papers. Out of which about 150 papers were selected by technical committee to be included in the conference. About 140 delegates registered and participated in the conference.

Er. Har Sarup Chahal, Vice Chancellor, Deenbandhu Chhoturam University of Science & Technology, Murthal was Chief Guest on the inaugural function on 19-10-2012 at 10.30 AM.

The function was be presided over by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) K.S. Yadava, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Vice-Chancellor, YMCAUST, Faridabad.

Keynote addressed was delivered by Mr. Bhupinder Godara, Director – Laboratory & Applications (Refrigeration & A/c Controls Division), Danfoss Industries Pvt. Ltd.

The technical sessions witnessed presentation by the delegates and subsequent interaction and knowledge sharing.

The technical sessions were Chaired and co chaired by technical experts from outside and within the University. These technical experts have nominated one best paper in each session for which award was given for best paper of each technical session.

A souvenir and e proceeding with ISBN number for the conference was released on the occasion.

Lt. Gen. (Retd.) K.S. Yadava, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Vice-Chancellor was chief guest on the valedictory function on 20-10-12. He praised the delegates for presenting quality research paper and thanked them for being a part of the conference. He informed that the University is encouraging the faculty and students to take up research oriented task that would be useful to industry and common man.

Mrs Meenakshi Yadava, Educationalist and philanthropist was guest of honour and gave away award and certificate to the participants on the valedictory function.
